Prophecy Sign #14:  Gog of Magog attacks Israel

Sign #14

Gog (Antichrist) of the land of Magog (Russia) attacks Israel

Ezekiel 38:1-2 (ESV)
1 The word of the Lord came to me:
2 "Son of man, set your face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him

Ezekiel 38:8-9 (ESV)
8 After many days you will be mustered. In the latter years you will go against the land that is restored from war, the land whose people were gathered from many peoples upon the mountains of Israel, which had been a continual waste. Its people were brought out from the peoples and now dwell securely, all of them.
9 You will advance, coming on like a storm. You will be like a cloud covering the land, you and all your hordes, and many peoples with you.

What it looks like

Gog (the Antichrist) from the land of Magog (Russia) will lead an attack upon Israel.

Russia and Iran, along with Turkey, Libya and several other enemies will launch the prophetic “War of Gog and Magog”. Within a few months, Iran will have nuclear capability. Ahmadinejad continues with his unholy hatred toward the chosen nation Israel. While in Israel our very Jewish guide shared this piece of wisdom: “When someone tells you they are going to kill you, you should believe them.”

See Prophecy Sign #15

God's covenant people have been regathered as a nation and the world witnessed Israel taking full control of Jerusalem during the Six Day War on June 5, 1967.

Ezekiel 38 & 39 is a prophecy that occurs after the re-gathering of the nation. The prophet foretells of an invasion of Israel by a coalition of nations under the leadership of a man called "Gog." "Gog is probably more of a title, like "Czar" or "President" than a person. This prophecy concerning Gog and the nation Israel is one of the most dramatic predictions in the Bible.

The first few verses of Ezekiel 38 could possibly identify specific geographic regions/nations the Antichrist will ultimately conquer. From these areas, we see the make-up of the invading nations of his final end-times empire.

Gog, may or may not be a reference to the Antichrist.  It could be refering to the evil demonic influence upon a powerful leader from the north of Israel. If so, Ezekiel identifies the Antichrist as "Gog from Magog" the prince of Rosh, Meschech and Tubal. While the Antichrist's identity has been withheld from the church, this passage seems to associate him with Russia. Ezekiel informs us, though the specific timing is not revealed, that Gog and his confederacy of nations will eventually advance and storm the nation Israel. This attack on Israel unleashes God's hot anger and fiery wrath.

The fact of the future invasion is clear. The timing of the invasion is unclear. Will it occur before Daniel's 70th week begins? Will it occur during the middle of Daniel's 70th week? Or is this a description of the greatest battle of all time, the Battle of Armageddon which will occur at the end of Daniel's 70th? Many good end-times scholars have differing opinions.

Middle East Volcano

Charles Krauthammer writes:  "On Sept. 6, something important happened in northern Syria. Problem is, no one knows exactly what. Except for those few who were involved, and they're not saying.  We do know that Israel carried out an airstrike. How do we know it was important? Because in Israel, where leaking is an art form, even the best-informed don't have a clue. They tell me they have never seen a better-kept secret... This is an extremely high-stakes game. The time window is narrow. In probably less than two years, Ahmadinejad will have the bomb." Daniel 2:44 (NIV) 44 "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.

After the bomb

Uri Orbach writes, "In five or 10 years, maybe in 15 years, when those of us who have survived completely lose their hair as a result of the radioactive fallout left in the wake of the Iranian bomb, we may think differently."  The timing of 'Gog of Magog' invasion of Israel continues to be a bit of a mystery to me.  At certain times I think it will occur at the end of Daniel's 70th week and it is synonymous with the final event aka the Battle of Armageddon.  At other times I think it may be occur at the beginning of Daniel's 70th week, and it will be the catalytic prophesied event leading to a 7 year peace covenant and the establishment of Antichrist's 10 nation confederacy of the Revived Roman Empire.  Regardless of the timing, it remains a key prophecy sign that we are to look for to determine if we are in the End Times.

Putin in Iran for landmark visit

This historic visit may be the first step toward the emerging military alliance.  Interestingly, it is Ahmadinejad who has declared Israel should be wiped of the map. In his book Epicenter, Joel Rosenberg quotes Dr. Dore Gold regarding Russia's interests in Iran; "Russia has two interests in Iran.  First they want to resurrect the supposed glory of the Soviet union.  And second, they want to make money... The Russians want an empire and to get one they need to establish special relationships with Arab and Islamic regimes in the Middle East whom they can use as their agents of influence."

Israel Warns World War III May be Biblical War of Gog and Magog

On October 17, 2007 President Bush declared that a nuclear-armed Iran could lead to WW III.  I wonder what must be going through Prsident Bush's head as he balances his knowledge of Bible prophecy with the current events of the world?

Netanyahu: We're in 1939

Addressing delegates at a conference organized by the Interdisciplinary Center's Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT), Netanyahu said: "The military option should never be kept off the table." Some two and a half years remained until Iran would acquire nuclear weapons, Netanyahu said, adding: "That's 700 days, and today is another day." The opposition leaders compared Iran's President Ahmadinejad to Adolf Hitler, saying, "A year ago, I said we are in 1938, and Iran is Germany. Well, it's 1939 now.

Israel: Forget U.S. intel, Iran nukes at full speed

It's difficult to know what Iran is up to, but it looks like Israel not going to believe the U.S. intel report.  And why should they?  Ahmadinejad has made his intentions very clear..."Wipe Israel off the Map."  This statement, combined with multiple end times prophecies, suggest a soon coming Middle East war.

Ezekiel 38:1-6 (NASB77)
1 And the word of the LORD came to me saying,
2 "Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him,
3 and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal.
4 "And I will turn you about, and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords;
5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet;
6 Gomer with all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops-many peoples with you.

WHY BENAZIR BHUTTO'S ASSASSINATION MATTERS: Pakistan is just one attack away from bin Laden seizing power

The interview with Bhutto was to be the cover story of PARADE on January 6, 2008.

The assasination of Pakistan Prime Minister Benzir Bhutto by the religious extreme al-Qaida network has further destabilized the Middle East.  Al-Qaida has turned its face toward Pakistan, a now volatile nuclear-armed nation, as the Islamic militants continue to wage holy war.  Joel Rosenberg warns "Pakistan is just one coup d'etat away from Osama bin Laden or one of his fanatical, murderous allies suddenly gaining control....it is difficult to imagine a more nightmarish scenario than al-Qaeda in possession of Pakistan's nuclear arsensal."  This seems to put us one step closer to the Gog-Magog war prophesied in the Book of Ezekiel, chapters 39 & 39.

U.S. Report:  Israel would weather nuclear war with Iran

Iranian cities in Israeli rangePotential Israeli targets

WASHINGTON Published 12.24.07 - All out nuclear war between Israel and Iran: a doomsday scenario that we all fear deeply.  As pertains to nuclear warfare, the study found that an Israeli nuclear scrimmage with Iran would most likely last for about three weeks.

Israel may have to take military action against Iran: Bolton

"Widely considered the Middle East's sole if undeclared nuclear power, Israel considers Iran its number one enemy following repeated statements by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the Jewish state to be wiped off the map. Bolton said that military action against Iran should be taken before Tehran acquires a bomb.  If you are worried about an Iran with nuclear weapons and an extreme theological regime in power, the time to take the plan of action is before Iran acquires the weapons."

Ahmadinejad tells West: Accept Israel's 'imminent collapse'

 Has Iran Won?

Haaretz reports (1.30.08)  "Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on the West Wednesday to acknowledge Israel's "imminent collapse."

The Economist, (February 2nd-8th 2008) asks the question, Has Iran Won?  "It doesn't take a fevered brain to assume that if Iran's ayatollahs get their hands on the bomb, the world could be in for some nasty surprises...  Iran maintains it is enriching uranium and producing plutonium for much needed electricity.  But it could fuel a bomb. And once a country can produce such fuel, putting it in a warhead is relatively easy."

The more interesting question, is this all part of the prophet Ezekiel's end times predictions when Israel enters a showdown with Russia and Iran and their allies as recorded in Ezekiel 38 & 39?

Ahmadinejad: Israel to be Uprooted

This past week (3.2.08) Israeli peace efforts began breaking down. Prime Minister Olmert vowed dramatic action against Hamas terrorists following major rocket assault on southern Israel. As promised, Israel hit Gaza hard saying the nation Israel has a right to defend its citizens against rocket fire. Israeli forces launched air and ground operations against militants in northern Gaza, aimed at stopping what Israel says is a steady barrage of rocket fire into its towns.  It is no surprise Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad continued his ongoing diatribe against Israel and declared the nation will be "uprooted" and its leaders tried for Saturdays counter-terror strikes on Gaza.  Is Israel on the verge of war? Are we beginning to see the prophesied escalation of a major war in the Middle East? Time will tell but Ezekiel 38:9 warns that the war of Gog and Magog will "come like a storm" upon Israel and the world.

Ezekiel 38:9 (NIV) 9 You and all your troops and the many nations with you will go up, advancing like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land.

A trip to Baghdad

What the article in the Economist does not point out is Ahamdinehjad's actions are driven by the belief that the Coming of the Twelfth Imam, the Islamic Messiah, will occur in the next two or three years.  He also believes that by launching a war to annihilate Israel can hasten that day.  This is not new news.  From a 2005 article written for The Ashbrook Center, Iran's President and the Politics of the Twelfth Imam, "Shi'ites expect the Twelfth Imam, which Jews and Christians would recognize as a messianic figure, to return to save the world when it had descended into chaos. Shi'ite orthodoxy has it that humans are powerless to encourage the Twelfth Imam to return. However, in Iran a group called the Hojjatieh believe that humans can stir up chaos to encourage him to return."  God has given Christians advanced warning so we will not be caught off guard when end-times events begin to unfold.  Prophecy is the revelation of future events.  Prophecy is history written in advance. Prophecy encourages us to trust God when times get difficult because He is in control of all things.

Mrs. Clinton Tries to Get Tough; Ahmadinejad Endorses Obama

From the Rush Limbaugh Show.  April 22, 2008

RUSH:  We have the Hillary comment about nuking Iran from Good Morning America today.  Chris Cuomo said, "You said, 'If Iran were to strike Israel, there would be a massive retaliation.'  Scary words, Mrs. Clinton.  Does 'massive retaliation' mean you go into Iran, you would bomb Iran?  Is that what that's supposed to suggest?"

HILLARY:  Well, the question was if Iran were to launch a nuclear attack on Israel, what would our response be?  And I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran, and I want them to understand that, because it does mean that they have to look very carefully, uh, at their society.  Because at whatever stage of development they might be in their nuclear weapons program, in the next ten years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them.  That's like a terrible thing to say, but those people who run Iran need to understand that because that perhaps will deter them from doing something that would be reckless, foolish, and tragic.

RUSH: One more thing on Mrs. Clinton and Iran. You know, we've spoken with the author Joel Rosenberg on this program. He has written a series of thriller novels, and in addition to writing... His thriller novels actually related to current events.  But Mrs. Clinton thinks that she was Miss Tough Guy by saying to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, "Hey, look, pal. You attack Israel, we're going to annihilate you," and she's talking about how she can deter Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with this kind of talk.  What she doesn't understand is, Ahmadinejad cannot be deterred.  All of you people out there who hate religious fanatics, and think religious fanatics have no place in American government and life and you want to compare "religious fanatics" in this country to religious fanatics around the world? The babes at The View do that. A lot of liberals say, "There's no difference in Christians and Islamofascists," and so forth and so on. The libs like to say this.

But there is a huge difference, huge.  Ahmadinejad cannot be deterred.  He believes, and the reason he's out there rattling sabers and promising to do this. He's telling us everything he's going to do. It's just so unpleasant, people don't want to listen to it -- and Obama's naive, too. Obama thinks he can schedule a meeting with Ahmadinejad and talk him out of his intentions!  Hillary thinks with big talk she can deter him, but this guy is a religious nutcase who believes that his God-given mission as president of Iran is to annihilate the US and Israel.  And why?  Because it is those two acts which will usher in the 12th Imam -- the 12th Imam, who's hiding in some well somewhere! He's at the bottom of a well, and when the two great Satans are destroyed (the United States and Israel), then the 12th Imam, who is the Islamic messiah, will make his grand reappearance.  Ahmadinejad believes this, and he's out there saying it, and he's writing about it. People want to chalk him up to being some little lunatic, and he is.  He's a total lunatic driven by a religious fervor.  The point is, he can't be deterred.

Israeli Military Demonstrates Ability to Attack Iran, U.S. Officials Say

U.S. says exercise by Israel seemed directed at Iran

In the News...  International Herald Tribune.  By Michael R. Gordon and Eric Schmitt.  Published: June 20,2008.

Several American officials said the Israeli exercise appeared to be an effort to develop the military's capacity to carry out long-range strikes and to demonstrate the seriousness with which Israel views Iran's nuclear program. More than 100 Israeli F-16 and F-15 fighters participated in the maneuvers, which were carried out over the eastern Mediterranean and over Greece during the first week of June, American officials said. The exercise also included Israeli helicopters that could be used to rescue downed pilots. The helicopters and refueling tankers flew more than 900 miles, which is about the same distance between Israel and Iran's uranium enrichment plant at Natanz, American officials said.  Israeli officials declined to discuss the details of the exercise. A spokesman for the Israeli military would say only that the country's air force "regularly trains for various missions in order to confront and meet the challenges posed by the threats facing Israel." Read More

Donnie's Remarks...

Are the winds of war blowing?  Joel Rosenberg has said, "Iran, and their feverish attempt to steal, buy or make nuclear weapons, is the No. 1 threat in the Middle East."  Joseph Farah has said "'Iranian President Mahmoud's Ahmadinejad's mystical pre-occupation with the coming of a Shiite Islamic messiah figure - the Mahdi - is raising concerns that a nuclear-armed Islamic Republic could trigger the kind of global conflagration he envisions will set the stage for the end of the world.  Ahmadinejad and others in Iran are deadly serious about the imminent return of the 12th imam, who will prompt a global battle between good and evil (with striking parallels to biblical accounts of "Armageddon")."  Bible prophecy (Ezekiel 38) warns that in the lasts days Persia (modern day Iran) will be a part of an attacking force against Israel that God will completely destroy in order to demonstrate to the world His divine love and protection for His chosen nation.  Is it possible that we are beginning to see this prophecy come to pass?

Report: Israel won't allow a nuclear Iran

Report:  Holland believes Iran to be attacked soon

General: Attack on Iran would cause WWIII

Should Israel or the United States attack Iran, it would be the start of another World War.

In the News...  By JPOST.com staff.  August 29, 2008.

Israel will not allow Iran to attain nuclear capability and if time begins to run out, Jerusalem will not hesitate to take whatever means necessary to prevent Iran from achieving its nuclear goals, the government has recently decided in a special discussion. According to the Israeli daily Ma'ariv, whether the United States and Western countries succeed in thwarting the Islamic Republic's nuclear ambitions diplomatically, through sanctions, or whether a US strike on Iran is eventually decided upon, Jerusalem has begun preparing for a separate, independent military strike.   Read More

We end the hot summer months with smoldering rumors of war.  Israel seems purposeful in its response to a nuclear Iran.  Both Russia and Iran are more than likely ignorant of Ezekiel's prophecies surrounding their nations and the end times.  Yet Christians know that the Bible predicts an alignment of these two nations and an invasion of Israel to take place "in the latter years" (Ezek. 38:8).

Iranian leaders calling for Israel's destruction - Is a military strike against Iran Inevitable?

Map showing nuclear activity in Iran

In the News...  Guardian.co.uk.  By Jonathan Steele.  September 25, 2008

Israel gave serious thought this spring to launching a military strike on Iran's nuclear sites but was told by President George W Bush that he would not support it and did not expect to revise that view for the rest of his presidency, senior European diplomatic sources have told the Guardian...  Several high-level Israeli officials have hinted over the last two years that Israel might strike Iran's nuclear facilities to prevent them being developed to provide sufficient weapons-grade uranium to make a nuclear bomb. Iran has always denied having such plans... The US announced two weeks ago that it would sell Israel 1,000 bunker-busting bombs. The move was interpreted by some analysts as a consolation prize for Israel after Bush told Olmert of his opposition to an attack on Iran. But it could also enhance Israel's attack options in case the next US president revives the military option. Read More

U.S. European Command (EUCOM) has deployed to Israel a high-powered X-band radar and the supporting people and equipment needed for coordinated defense against Iranian missile attack, marking the first permanent U.S. military presence on Israeli soil...  EUCOM has repeatedly deployed troops and Patriot air defense batteries for joint exercises and Iraq-related wartime contingencies, but has never before permanently deployed troops on Israeli soil...  Once operational, the combined U.S. and Israeli system is expected to double or even triple the range at which Israel can detect, track and ultimately intercept Iranian missiles, according to Lt. Gen. Henry Obering, director of the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency.  During a visit to Israel in early August, Obering said the X-Band radar could add precious minutes to the time in which Israel has to respond to incoming missile attacks.  "The missile threat from Iran is very real, and we must stay ahead of the threat ... that's why we're working so hard with all our allies to put the most optimized, effective, anti-missile capabilities in place," Obering said.  Read More

Donnie's Remarks...

When the US deploys troops anywhere in the world, it is significant.  When the US deploys troops to Israel, marking the first permanent presence in Israel of American military personnel, it may be prophetically significant. On 10.02.08 Infolive.tv's CEO Olivier Rafowicz discussed with Margot Dudkevitch, Editor in Chief, the increase in rhetoric by Iranian leaders calling for Israel's destruction, and whether a military strike against Iran's nuclear instillations is inevitable.  This week the ayatollah who rules Iran, Seyyed Ali Khamenei, proclaimed "The world of Islam has awakened, and the 'absolute' defeat of Israel is imminent."  Khamenei also claimed that "even senior Zionists admit that Israel is weakening." He added that he "foresees the present generation witnessing the 'big day' of Israel's demise". This anti-Semite rhetoric lines up with Biblical warnings that in the last days Israel will be attacked by several nations including Iran and Russia.  We may very well be the generation to witness this massive attack.  And if this war happens to occur on our watch, I want to challenge everyone that the promise God gave to Abraham 4000 years ago, still applies today.

Genesis 12:1-3 (NIV)
1 The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you. 2 "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

I pray the United States continues to stand with and bless God's re-established nation Israel, regardless of the cost!

Report: Israel Preparing to Strike Iran Without U.S. Consent

IDF preparing options for Iran strike

In the News...  Fox News.  Dec. 4, 2008

Officials in the Israeli Defense Ministry told The Jerusalem Post that while they prefer to act in consultation with the U.S., they are preparing plans that would allow them to act alone.  "It is always better to coordinate," a senior Defense Ministry official told the newspaper. "But we are also preparing options that do not include coordination."  It would be difficult, but not impossible, to launch a strike against Iran without permission from the U.S., as the American Air Force controls the Iraqi airspace Israel's jets would have to enter on a bombing mission.  "There are a wide range of risks one takes when embarking on such an operation," a senior Israeli official told the Post.  Iran, the world's fourth-largest crude oil producer, maintains that its uranium enrichment activities are aimed at making fuel for a network of planned electricity-generating nuclear power plants and not for developing weapons. However Israel intelligence sources say Iran has sufficient nuclear material to make an atomic bomb.

Donnie's Remarks...

Israel is drawing up plans to attack Iran's nuclear facilities and is prepared to launch a strike without backing from the US.  Iran is well on its way to developing an atomic bomb that their president has stated he will use to drop on Israel and "wipe them off the map."  The most recent Israeli intelligence reports estimate that Iran will have enough enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon in late 2009.  Ezekiel 38 & 39 predicts a future final attack of an Islamic coalition of nations upon Israel.  One of the nations that is listed in Ezekiel's prophecy is Persia, which changed its name to Iran in 1935.

Ezekiel 38:3-5 (NIV)
3 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.  4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army...
5 Persia (Iran), Cush and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets,

Glen Beck, in a recent interview with Joel Rosenberg summarized it this way:  "Ahmadinejad openly prays for the return of the Mahdi.  The Mahdi is the Shiite Muslim version of the second coming of Jesus Christ.  He believes he can hasten the Mahdi's return by creating the right conditions for it. Unfortunately for us, those conditions are pretty simple: chaos, war, bloodshed, because only then can the Mahdi return with peace and justice. Think about that. Ahmadinejad must usher in chaos and war before he can fulfill his destiny. That is why he wants a nuclear program; that is why he threatens Israel and the West."  Ahmadinejad's actions are driven by the belief that the Coming of the Twelfth Imam, the Islamic Messiah, will occur in the next two or three years!

The Time Clock Has Run Out:  Israel Ready to Strike Iran

In the News...  Newsmax.com.  By Jim Meyers.  Monday, January 12, 2009.

Informed sources in Washington tell Newsmax that Israel indeed will launch a strike against Iran's nuclear facilities soon - possibly in just days as President George W. Bush prepares to leave office. The reason: The time clock has begun to run out. Iran is close to acquiring a nuclear device under the control of its radical president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Mohamed ElBaradei said in June that Iran would have a nuclear weapon in as little as six months. That six-month period has passed.Reports of Israel's decision to imminently launch strikes, although unconfirmed, would seem to contradict the Bush stance outlined in a front-page New York Times story last week, which asserted that Bush rejected a plea from Israel last year to help it raid Iran's main nuclear complex. The Times said Israel was rebuffed after it requested from the U.S. specialized bunker-busting bombs that it needs to attack Iran's nuclear complex at Natanz. The U.S. also reportedly nixed permission to the Israeli warplanes to fly over Iraqi territory to reach Iran.  Read More

We really don't know for certain WHEN the war of Gog and Magog (described in Ezekiel 38 & 39) will occur.  It could occur before the Rapture.  It could occur after the Rapture.  We do know that Iran (Persia) is one of the nations that will be involved, which is why we continually monitor articles like this one.  Ultimately, God will use this war to defend Israel from the onslaught of the attacking nations as He displays His glory for all the world to see.  Immediately after this war, He will pour out the Holy Spirit, particularly on the nation Israel.  Exciting times lie ahead.

Ezekiel 39:28-29 (NIV)
28 Then they will know that I am the LORD their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind.
29 I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD."

Israel finds huge natural gas reserve

Huge gas reserves discovered off Haifa

In the News...  Posted: January 23, 2009.  By Jerome R. Corsi.  © 2009 WorldNetDaily

NEW YORK - A huge deep-water natural gas find off the coast of Israel promises to be a boon to the Jewish state's economy as well as a stimulus to other developers searching for offshore oil and natural gas in the Mediterranean. Noble Energy, a New York Stock Exchange-listed company, has discovered an estimated more than 3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in three high-quality reservoirs drilled in the company's Tamar No. 1 well in the Mediterranean Sea, about 56 miles off the Israeli northern port of Haifa. Noble Energy drilled the Tamar No. 1 well to a depth of about three miles, beneath 5,500 feet of water. The find is significant for those who believe the Bible indicates Israel is sitting on a massive oil reserve that would reshape the geopolitical structure of the Middle EastRead More

Ezekiel 38:1-2 (NIV)
1 The word of the LORD came to me:
2 "Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal; prophesy against him...

Ezekiel 38:10-13 (NIV)
10 "'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil scheme.
11 You will say, "I will invade a land of unwalled villages; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people--all of them living without walls and without gates and bars.
12 I will plunder and loot and turn my hand against the resettled ruins and the people gathered from the nations, rich in livestock and goods, living at the center of the land."
13 Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages will say to you, "Have you come to plunder? Have you gathered your hordes to loot, to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods and to seize much plunder?"'

One of the purposes of the future Gog/Magog war will be to plunder and loot Israel of her riches.  In that future day she will be a strategic target for several nations eager to strip her of new found wealth.  Joel Rosenberg's weblog states it like this: "Ezekiel 38-39 has another precondition that has to happen before the "War of Gog and Magog" can begin - Israel must be notably prosperous."  I think we may be witnessing the prophesied prosperity of the nation Israel, which is a prerequisite to the coming war, and the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus.

Netanyahu: Iran nukes trump global economy

Israeli candidate warns of danger from Iran

By JOHN DANISZEWSKI, Associated Press Writer John Daniszewski,  Thu Jan 29, 2009

DAVOS, Switzerland - Israeli election front-runner Benjamin Netanyahu told a session of the World Economic Forum on Thursday that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons ranks far above the global economy among the challenges facing leaders of the 21st century... Netanyahu, a former finance minister, said he believes the global financial meltdown is reversible if governments, businesses and people make the right decisions.  "What is not reversible is the acquisition of nuclear weapons by a fanatic radical regime ... We have never had, since the dawn of the nuclear age, nuclear weapons in the hands of such a fanatical regime," he claimed.   READ MORE

Donnie's Remarks...

Earlier this month Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, made it clear that he sees Israel's current war against Hamas in Gaza as a prelude to a future war to stop Radicals in Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, an event he described as a "nightmare scenario."  I think Chapters 38-39 of Ezekiel speak directly to this end-times event when Russia will arm and lead a coalition of Muslim nations, headed by Iran (Persia - the official name of Iran before 1935), into an all-out attack against Israel. It doesn't take much to convince me that the stage is set for this war right now!  It will be interesting to see what happens over the next 6 to 12 months between Russia, Iran, and Israel.

Iran-Israel Nuclear End Game Now Much Closer

Iran has enough nuclear material to make bomb, US says

Four key developments have clicked in to edge Iran and Israel much closer to a military denouement The United States believes Iran has stockpiled enough nuclear fuel to make a bomb.

In the News...

The Cutting Edge.  By Edwin Black.  February 23, 2009

In recent days, four key developments have clicked in to edge Iran and Israel much closer to a military denouement with profound consequences for American oil that the nation is not prepared to meet. What has happened? First, Iran has proven it can successfully launch a satellite into outer space as it did on February 2. Tehran claimed to the incredulity of Western governments that the satellite was to monitor earthquakes and enhance communications. Few believe that, especially since America's own space program continuously launches unpublished military satellite missions. Ezekiel 38 & 39 predicts a future final attack of an Islamic coalition of nations upon Israel.  One of the nations that is listed in Ezekiel's prophecy is Persia, which changed its name to Iran in 1935.  Iran is currently led by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.  His hatred of Israel and the West is an ongoing diatribe.  Iran is well on its way to developing an atomic bomb and their president has stated he will use it to drop on Israel and "wipe them off the map."  He would also love to destroy America.  Why such hatred toward Israel and the West?  The Jews are God's covenant people of the Old Testament, and America is mostly a Christian nation greatly influenced by the New Testament.  Both countries biblical beliefs stand in direct conflict with Islam.

Iran's Ahmadinejad. Not Paranoia.

Iran is in fact forcing a direct military confrontation upon Israel. We are not only talking about President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's exaggerated verbal passion or the Iranian nuclear project...  Based on foreign reports, the Air Force bombed about two months ago, in Sudan, a shipment of medium-range rockets with a range of 70 kilometers (roughly 40 miles,) apparently the Fajar 3 model. This is not a small missile. In fact, it is a missile that the Iranians are manufacturing especially for the Gaza Strip, so that it can be dismantled to several pieces and smuggled in through the Gaza tunnels...   The picture is becoming clearer: The Iranians are aiming to establish a rocket base south of Israel that would cover the entire Gush Dan area in central Israel from the south. This is not paranoia. The "tight grip theory," namely, clasping the State of Israel from both the north and south, turns Iran into a concrete enemy, rather than a theoretical one.  READ MORE

Donnie's Remarks...

Iran is moving military missiles into the Gaza strip.  Tehran aims to create a Gaza missile base that can cover all of central Israel.  It seems Ahmadinejad's End Times beliefs may be driving him to force a war with Israel, sooner than later.  He believes he has been chosen by Allah to bring about the 12th Imam and has stated that his government should be paving the way for the return of the Mahdi (Muslim's Messiah figure) and that his return is imminent.  I have said before that there are any number of scenarios that we could envision leading to the Gog/Magog attack upon Israel, but there is no doubt that one of the participants in this prophesied war is Iran.  Unfortunately, we cannot be certain when this battle will happen.  Right now, it is still in the future, but stories like this one could be an indicator the major conflict may take place soon.
Ezekiel 38:3-5 (NIV)
3 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.  4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army...
5 Persia (Iran), Cush and Put will be with them...

DAVOS, Switzerland – Israeli election front-runner Benjamin Netanyahu told a session of the World Economic Forum on Thursday that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons ranks far above the global economy among the challenges facing leaders of the 21st century... READ MORE

Israel Preparing to Strike Iran

Israel is drawing up plans to attack Iran's nuclear facilities and is prepared to launch a strike without backing from the U.S. Israel may attack Iran without US approval

Read More

Map showing nuclear activity in Iran

In a move to defend against the growing Iranian ballistic missile threat, about 120 US troops will be permanently stationed in Israel for the first time.

Read More

Defense News.  By Gayle S. Putrich.  September 26, 2008

Read More
